Have you, or a loved one been diagnosed with agitation associated with dementia of the Alzheimer’s type?
This clinical research study is evaluating a study drug to treat agitation associated with Alzheimer’s disease. Agitation is a common behavioral symptom of Alzheimer’s disease that can be distressing for both the person with Alzheimer’s and their caregivers. Symptoms of agitation may include:
- Restlessness
- Verbal or physical aggression
- Emotional distress
- Irritability
- Wandering

About the Study
This study is evaluating an investigational medication to learn whether it may help reduce agitation in people with Alzheimer’s disease dementia.
Researchers are conducting a clinical study to better understand these behaviors and evaluate the investigational drug for adults living with Alzheimer’s who experience restlessness, frustration, or aggression.
Who Can Join
To be eligible to participate in this study, you or a loved one must:
- Be at least 50 years old
- Have a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease
- Experiencing agitation associated with Alzheimer’s disease for the past 2 weeks.
- Have a caregiver or study partner willing to attend all study visits
- Be able to read, understand and sign the consent
You may not qualify if:
- You use second-generation antipsychotics and antidepressants (e.g., selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors)
- You have a diagnosis of dementia due to other causes such as vascular disease, Parkinson’s disease, Lewy Body disease, AIDS, Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, frontotemporal dementia, Huntington’s disease, major head trauma, primary or secondary cerebral neoplasia, or other non-Alzheimer disorders
- You have had stroke, documented TIAs, and/or pulmonary embolism within the last 12 months
- You are diagnosed with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or current untreated/uncontrolled MDD
- All antipsychotics are prohibited
- You have previously been treated with masupirdine

Compensation:
Participants may receive compensation up to $1050
Caregiver will also receive up to $1050 (Each get $150 per Visit).
